About

keybamine is a typing trainer inspired by the way professional musicians practice, designed to help you improve your typing speed.

How so? You don't practice a musical instrument by mindlessly noodling through entire pieces. Instead, you repeat short sections several times, slowly and deliberately. The same goes for typing. keybamine serves you the words you need to practice, and makes it fun!

The game offers a mix of high-speed and low-speed challenges. What they have in common is that it's always better to complete the lines correctly than to type quickly.

The slow blocks are intended for slow, deliberate practice. They consist of singletry- 😈 and regular lines 🌿 (more on those below). Each line may either contain a few different words, or repeat a single word multiple times. The latter are great for deliberate practice and getting your adaptive fingering right. Pay close attention to what your fingers are doing.

Fast blocks, on the other hand, are the place to let rip. You can race against yourself to improve your fastest line speed 🚀. keybamine also keeps track of the fastest time you've ever typed each word, and these lines are your chance to improve on that. You can see your current average 🎯 in the sidebar. Just keep it smooth - intermittent high WPM bursts won’t work.

In order to see fast blocks, though, you need to build a singletry lines streak 😈 during slow blocks — the higher your streak, the fatter your fast blocks will get.

Quests 🐢 let you compete with yourself on your weak points. Once you've gathered enough bait by completing regular lines 🌿 perfectly, you get a chance to sneak up on that horrible, horrible monster. When you chase it down, the lines consist solely of the words you're currently weakest at.

You can, of course, toggle between multiple word lists, add a preset or create your own. Keep in mind that editing your word list resets your quest counter (to maintain game balance).

Finally, with typing practice as with so many other things, consistency is king, and a single correct line is already enough to update your daily streak 🔥.

Heads up: keybamine is currently in alpha. Breaking changes may occur.
